El padrón de Larrazábal en las misiones del Paraguay (1772)
Abstract
This article analyses the historical circumstances of the census that the governor Juan J. Vértiz ordered to be carried out in the thirty Guaranies villages, executed by Marcos de Larrazabal in 1772; the first Indians tributary control carried out by royal officers after the Jesuits expulsion. It is also going to be revised the tribute collection antecedents during the «Compañía de Jesus» management, as well as the administrative situation of these missions, with the Bucareli reorganization, until the census date. Paying attention to its interest as a demographic source, the results are going to be shown through the population copies found out in the «Archivo General de Indias», providing a comparative study of four villages population structure.Downloads
