Abstract
This text explores the figure of Carlos Martínez-Barbeito, a little-studied Character in his role as director of the Museum of America during the Franco regime, and his influence on diplomatic and cultural relations with Latin American republics. Through the consultation of his private correspondence in the Arquivo do Reino de Galicia, his thoughts and actions are reconstructed, highlighting his ability to mobilize his extensive network of contacts for the benefit of the museum.
