Union and dispersion of political forces in the formation of the International Preparatory Committee and the Latin American delegations of the Tricontinental Conference
Abstract
In this article we will analyze the process of formation of the International Preparatory Committee (IPC), paying specific attention to the integration of the Latin American representatives, and of the National Committees (NC) that constituted the Latin American delegations to the Tricontinental Conference, with the aim of evaluating its capacity to unify the political forces of the left in this continent. Through sources of information of diverse political-ideological origin (officials of the OSPAAAL and of the Cuban State, testimonies of delegates and documents issued by North American intelligence agencies), we will observe the centralizing interference of the organizers, in which the intervention of the Cuban State and of the Communist Parties predominated, and the existence of anti-imperialist groups and parties which, in spite of their interest, were unable to attend the Conference.
