Abstract

After the 40th anniversary of the establishment of bilateral relations between Mexico and Spain –Paris, March 28, 1977– the objective of this article is to present and analyze Mexico’s assessments , during the presidency of José López-Portillo, of Spain’s transition to democracy in 1977, a year especially important not only for the democratization of Spain, but also for the definitive normalization of the Spanish-Mexican diplomatic bond, after 40 years of being conditioned by the consequences of the Spanish Civil War.
