Abstract

The present paper is a study of 14 Spanish rain gauges from the Iberian Peninsula and Balearic Islands, where different drought indicators have been essayed: «total drought»; «progressive drought»; drought according to R. Heras; a modified method of deciles (Gibbs & Maher) and «dry episodes». Finally dry and humid periods (months) are presented by the design of the percentage of cumulative deviations of rainfall from the mean. Application of diverse criteria is conditioning final results and spatial and timerelated randomness is the only conclusion in Spain.
