Valores medioambientales de los agricultores en Japón y España
Abstract
In 1999 was enforced in Japan the Basic Law on Food, Agriculture and Rural Areas. Also, in 1999 was promulgated in the European Union the Agenda 2000 Common Agricultural Policy reform. As a result, post-war productivist agricultural policies were reviewed, and a new policy agenda was set up, the protection of the environment becoming a core principle. The need to proceed towards more sustainable agriculture appears to be a common goal for the Agricultural Administration both in the European Union and Japan. However, a policy aiming at a more sustainable agriculture will only be successful if it corresponds to farmers' values and convictions. This paper analyses the integration of environmental objectives in Japanese and EU agricultural policies and the correspondence of the model of sustainable agriculture with farmers values and convictions, towards the comparative analysis of farmers' environmental discourse in two areas of intensive agriculture: Asahikawa, in Japan, and El Campo de Dalías, in Spain.Downloads
