Bioeconomía: nuevo paradigma para la problemática medioambiental.
Abstract
There are problems such as global warming, diminution of the ozone Iayer or the acid ram that are due to non-linear interactions arising from Ihe negadve impaet of the human socioeconomic system upon nature's biological system. These iníertace problems are interactive, cornplex and accumuiative but what is more disturbing they suffer from the element of uncertainty. Attempts have been made to resobe these interface problems through seyeral economy-environment disciplines starting with Natural Resource Economies and evo]ving to Environmental Economics and Ecological Economies. Ahhough each has contributed sorne nevertheless they have not been able to provide satisfactory solutiones for the multitude of economie, environmental and ethical requirements. Bioeconomics, Biological Economics (MCIJAMMAO!AN, 1980) is thus proposed which is an innovative paradigm arising from the sinthesis of Biology with Economics. Bioeconomics draws on dic superior scieníific rationality of Biology lo provide Economies with a scieníific foundation lo resobe 11wse interactive problems. This synthesis is vital because wbule ¶1w socloeconomie system is dominated by competition, waste aud misrnanagement the domain of biology is ruled by synergism, conservation. regeneration and recycl i ng. Bioeconornics is moreover, an interdisciplinary and biocentric discipline and as such could act as a post-modern vc¡encc bellwethering dic prornotion of the culture of syntheis. Also, due to its diverse and powerful scientific foundation it coed act as a tempiate for a Iheoretical and operational model for sustainabil¡ty.Downloads
