Conflictividad medioambiental: actores enfrentados en torno a decisiones relacionadas con el medio ambiente
Abstract
Waste policy is a magnificent example of the conflict engendered by certain environmentally- related decisions. Social oposition to waste facilities is the consequence not only of the NIMBY (not in my back yard) syndrome but also, and most frequently, of the imposition of certain decisions upon affected groups. In order to analyze the socio-political variables that explain why some facilities are accepted while others are frontally rejected, a comparative research project, financed by DG XII, was undertaken. This project led to the elaboration of the «actors-resources methodology» (Dente et al., 1998), which contends that the approval or rejection to these facilities is related with the associated decisionmaking process rather than with the «objective» features of the project itself.Downloads
