The landscape as a resource for Environmental Education. Practical experience in the "Sendaviva" Equipment (Navarra)
Abstract
This study aims to explore the educational potential of the centers for Environmental Education (CEE, henceforth) to increase awareness of the value of landscapes, their role and changes to them. Firstly, it argues how landscapes may positively contribute to Environmental Education. Secondly, it suggests some guidelines to increase landscape awareness on the CEE. Finally, it presents the results of implementing a learning activity, named “Discovering landscapes!”. This educational activity was carried out in Sendaviva (a CEE located in the south of Navarra, Spain) and involved 7- to 15-year-old children. Results allowed verifying the educational potential of the CEE to increase landscape awareness, as well as detecting children’ stereotyped conceptions of landscape.Downloads
