Nomenclatural notes on Impoea sagittata Poir. (Convolvulaceae), an American plant formerly naturalized in the Mediterranean area
Abstract
The typification of the name Ipomoea sagittata (Convolvulaceae) is revised. A “holotype” had previously been indicated by Austin and McDonald in 2014 from a specimen kept in the Desfontaines herbarium at P. However, the original material comprises more than one specimen. Therefore, a lectotype for this name is designated in this work according to the International Code of Nomenclature for algae, fungi, and plants (Shenzhen Code of 2018). The name is lectotypified using a specimen collected by Jean Louis Marie Poiret in “Numidia” (Algeria) between 1785 and 1786 and currently preserved at P.
