Typifications in Narcissus sect. Serotini (Amaryllidaceae), with some taxonomical and chorological notes.
Abstract
The taxonomy and above all the nomenclature of subgenus Hermione in genus Narcissus has
been controversial, especially with respect to the names N. serotinus, N. elegans and N. obsoletus, which
have been interpreted in diverging ways by many authors for almost two centuries. In this work the names N.
elegans and N. obsoletus have been lectotypified and epitypified, the name N. elegans var. fallax has been
lectotypified and the historical background of their taxonomic treatments and confusion has been discussed.
The main morphological differences between taxa in section Serotini have been presented, along with
genome size data of two populations of N. obsoletus.
