Eco-design of the Sevillian metropolis: Study using remote sensing
Abstract
The city of Seville, with almost 2800 years of history, is a good example of historical sustainability and eco-design because both the current and the pre-existing city combine in a complex framework of overlapping, giving rise to a kind of landscape that is transformed and remains. This, linked to climatic factors, has resulted in a strong tourist attraction due to their great patrimonial value. In this research, 30 Landsat satellite images from the United States Geological Service (USGS) were analyzed for the 1975 to 2010 period, each of which was examined and classified in a certain period of time in order to characterize right way the urban development both spatially and temporally. The results show how the sustainable evolution of Seville is related to the existence of eco-design indicators.
