Abstract

The urban sustainability is a new paradigm in the form of understand and manage the city. It is a process more than an end; it recognizes the disposal of resources, the change of the urban metabolism, included in the others matter the limit and the form. In the context of the European Union (EU) has initiated some policies, strategies and compromises to promote the sustainability in the European cities. This article analyzes the main urban problems in the EU, and the initiatives toward the urban sustainability that delineates a European model for a sustainable city.
