Los derechos de la mujer en África: el protocolo a la Carta Africana de Derechos Humanos y de los pueblos
Abstract
The entry into force of The Protocol to the African Charter on Human and People's Rights on the rights of women in Africa marked the culmination of years of struggle for a document for the promotion and protection of the human rights of women on the continent. This paper provides a brief historical overview of the process leading to the adoption of the protocol by the African Union in Maputo in July 2003, before moving into considering its substantive provisions, the implementation of which is still considered to be fraught with obstacles.
