Abstract
International legal tools to fight human trafficking created in the past two decades —through a series of laws such as the Palermo Protocol and the Warsaw Convention, which have imposed on Spanish rulers the task of adapting the legal system to comply with the subsequent duties. The current article defines the legal and theoretical frames around which human beings trafficking revolves. It also studies the current configuration of a crime as put by article 177 bis of the Criminal Code from a critical perspective. On the other hand, it reflects upon the need to a comprehensive law which fights human beings trafficking in Spain and takes into consideration a series of proposals de lege ferenda in connection with article 177 bis of the Spanish Criminal Code.
