Abstract

The subject of discussion chooses as a topic self-employment from the perspective of Commercial Law in Cuba, focusing on its legal system and on the specifics of Cuban Commercial Law and on the improvement of the new Cuban economic model in the XXI century, as well as on the protection of the environment, giving attention to the feminine role in such an activity. Our goal is to determine the current state of self-employment in Cuban Commercial Law as well as its legal framework. From the self-employment concept we establish, on the one hand, the questioning whether to accept the self-employed person as an individual commercial entrepreneur or not and the evolution this has had since the beginning of the Cuban revolution’s success within its different stages until now. On the other hand, the requirements to practice the authorized activities, the reasons why its role becomes extinguished and a study of the different regulations applied are defined.
