The Rebirth of a Tradition: The Multiple Paths of Republicanism in Current Theories
Abstract
The aim of this paper is to identify the most significant modulations of current republican theories, and underline the differences and similarities of their theoretical positions. The heterogeneity of theories that appeal to republicanism, represent a palette plagued of shades where differences of degrees combined with qualitative differences. In this scenario we can recognize three major trends, a liberal republicanism, radical republicanism and anti-modern republicanism. Obviously within these three streams, we can find authors diverging from each other; however, there are certain hard cores that allow us to associate within the same line. While we believe this distinction has a greater potential heuristic to host multiple differences.Downloads
