Abstract
This paper describes the situation that the closed vowels presented in the Polish language in XVIIXVIII centuries. Its objective is to analyze the causes that could motivate the disappearance of these vowels. We have picked up information coming from the literary testimonies, as well as of the dialectal variants, with the purpose of making a pursuit in the evolution process. Finally, the data have corroborated that the enormous dialectal diversity that presents the Polish language constitutes a fundamental factor in the disappearance of the closed vowels.Downloads
