Abstract

The Slavs’ believes and celebrations connected with the Whitsun cycle are particularly interesting for the study of their mythology and folk religion. They are well documented from Middle Ages on and they, at least fúcus on two basical questions that appear strongly mixed: stimulation of spring fecundity and cult of the dead. Their popularity contributed to the development of a ‘cabinet mythology’.
