Abstract

This paper proposes some keys of interpretation of Juliusz Stowacki’s drama Kordian (1834). We study the scene IV of the third act, where Polish writter recreates the meeting of the plotters who planed the attempt on tsar Nicholas’s life during his coronation in Warsaw in 1829. We reflect on the historical value of that episode and its sources of documentation. We analyse the transference to the scene of contemporary facts, characters and ideologies.
