Abstract

The objective of the present article is to analyze the early reception of ‘Don Quixot” in Russia, as well as to establish the direct or indirect influences of Don Quixot on the work of several Russian writers from XVIII and XIX centuries. We will emphasize specially the peculiar parallels drawn between Don Quixot and Chichikov, hero of Gogol’s “Death Souls”.
