Abstract

This paper aims to offer a brief introduction to cognitive procesualism, the main trend within English-speaking cognitive archaeology. First, its theoretical foundation will be reviewed, especially its use of a theory of the mind based on the computational paradigm and methodological individualism. Then, its evolution and development will be analyzed and divided into two phases: an initial, formative one, and a normal one. Its thematic evolution will also be studied, paying particular attention to the North American School and the Material Engagement Theory, which could be considered its later development.
