Colloquialization of Spanish through a Microdiachronic Analysis of Political Discourse in the 1993 and 2020 Investiture Sessions
Abstract
The obtained results reveal the systematic presence of colloquializing elements in the analyzed parliamentary interventions, indicating either an adaptation of political language to a style closer to everyday speech, or the unintentional intrusion of the studied colloquial elements. In any case, this colloquialization has significant implications in the way political discourse is constructed and understood, as well as in the relationship between politicians and the citizenry.
