Abstract

Scientific evidence on the acquisition of discourse markers points to the need for a focus on cognitive processes in order to address the specific challenges that arise in their teaching / learning (i.e. functional versatility). In this article, we propose a functional approach based on dialectical reflection with the learners. This heuristic approach is exemplified through some examples of consciousness raising on connectors and argumentative operators.
