Abstract

The main purpose of this paper is to review the use of epistemicity in short texts in Spanish written by women in light of the theoretical framework of Cognitive Linguistics. Through a study of a diachronic corpus (comprised of samples of interactive genres from the 17th to the 21st centuries), the research describes how women’s identity narrative —that is, the feminolect of recent centuries— has been configured, focusing on the strategic use of modality.
