Abstract

Cultural wealth is an integral part of identity of each nation. In some cases this wealth is so exceptional that it contains a universal value and merits the UNESCO declaration of «the cultural wealth of human kind», that must be protected by not only the country of origin but also by the international community. However, we find some cases of intentional destruction of cultural property. Because of this, in recent history, and to this day, due to UNESCO’s efforts new international norms have been created to respond in times of war as well as in times of peace.
