Abstract

Nowadays, our planet is facing critical challenges, immersed in an era of emergency. Ecosophy, a fusion of ecology and philosophy, emerges as a philosophy of life that pursues harmony between humans and nature. Contemporary authors have shaped a conceptual and theoretical framework that moves the traditional anthropocentric view towards a biocentric perspective. In this context, art becomes an agent of change by exploring new materialities through interspecies co-creation. The artistic practice, conceived as research, highlights the search for innovative ecomaterialities. Through the study of two artistic installations, we analyze how microalgae, especially spirulina, act as remediating agents in the phyco-remediation of polluted environments. Their biomass results in a palette of biomaterials, including bacterial cellulose, which feeds an installation material library, thus revealing the potential of art as a catalyst for symbiosis between art, science and environment. This integrative artistic approach promotes awareness and action to address environmental challenges in a sustainable manner, generating a poetic and silent activism.
