Abstract

New York is presented as an ideal case study for the analysis of cultural districts, since throughout the 20th century art galleries, among other institutions, located in the city have formed active and highly representative clusters. Consequently, this article aims to analyze what the different New York galleries were and how they were distributed, both spatially and temporally, throughout the 20th century from a macroscopic perspective, observing the dynamics of origin, development, and disappearance of the gallery clusters, elucidating what their main focuses were.
