Tailor-made Playful Nostalgia: A Methodological Proposal for the Analysis of Videogame Remakes from a Social Point of View

Abstract

This article aims to offer a methodology to address the study of video game remakes in relation to nostalgia and society. It is based on the hypothesis that remakes are reconstructions of video games that generate nostalgia in certain audiences and social groups, and that one of the main reasons for making them is to satisfy it. Therefore, they are remade to measure, softening the pain “algia” of the return “nostos”. This issue will be analyzed and a methodology will be offered to analyze video game remakes under this approach.
