Abstract

The case of patients on Persistent Vegetative State is of the most emotive to come before courts. Since Nancy Cruzan v. Missouri US courts decide that artificially feeding could involve manipulation of the patient body without his consent. We think, with jurisprudence, that the real matter are proceedings where a guardian seeks to discontinue nutrition and hydration on a person in Persistent Vegetative State and not, like pro euthanasia activist says, a legal problem around liberty interest or due process Clause.
