Abstract

In this article the author underlines the close relationship between conscientious objection and religion in multicultural societies. To this aim, the author depicts the concept of religious conscientious objection and distinguishes it from the concept of civil disobedience. The intimate connexion between conscientious objection and freedom of religion and conscience offers a key to understand the accurate path for solving conflicts between law and conscience. Finally the author describes different types of conscientious objection issues in which religion is a crucial factor.
