Las Fuerzas Armadas de Chile y su proceso de integración a las operaciones de Paz

Abstract

The following article introduces Chile´s experience as a whole and the experience of Chile´s army in particular in the field of the United Nations Peace Keeping Operations. It analyzes the evolution and explains how this participation has helped into bringing a positive international image of the country. It also analyzes the interactions between the army and the executive branch within the frame of the International System. The conclusions express that (after having suffered a military regime during seventeen years) Chile has achieved a satisfactory degree of social cohesion which allows the establishment of state policies such as participation in the Peace Keeping Operations.
