Foreing body reaction due to absorbable Kirschner wire in podiatric surgery
Abstract
Everyday, the use of biodegradable fixation materials is more common in podiatric surgery. On the one hand, it´s an alternative to metal fixation for selected applications and provides the same performance for protection against shear and rotational forces while eliminating most of its disavantages. On the other hand, we can´t forget the complications in the use of this kind of fixations; therefore we present the case of a patient with a foreign-body reaction under a resorbable pin made of poly-p-dioxanone (PDS) that caused an epidermic cyst.Downloads
