Abstract

This article deals with the two visions of technique that can be extracted from the work of Rafael Sánchez Ferlosio. First, it reviews the critique of technique derived from his essays and articles, which is based, fundamentally, on showing how instruments take over the human will. Secondly, it studies the technique that appears in Ferlosio’s novels, which is very different from the previous one, insofar as it resembles art and can be understood as a game. It is concluded that, from the two visions of technique, we can show two types of use of the tools: a servile and arrogant use versus a free and modest use.
