The Romantic Readers of Goethe's Wilhelm Meister: Novalis and Fr. Schlegel.
Abstract
The work aims to present and compare the brief but intense readings that two Frühromantik thinkers, Novalis and Friedrich Schlegel, made of Goethe's Wilhelm Meister. The work has a double purpose. On the one hand, it seeks to show how the idea of infinity allows them to approach and distance themselves from Goethe's work and, on the other, to identify the Goethean legacy in the Romantic reflections. For this task, we focus on the brief reviews and notes that the young Romantics wrote, but we will also take other texts that allow us to specify the concepts that we will work on.
