Abstract

The main purpose of this paper is to analyze the place that philosophy, science and religiosity occupy in the ethical-political thought of young Carlos Astrada (1916-1927). The first part offers the historical-intellectual context: his debate with local positivism, his characterization of the University Reform, as well as his interpretation of the Russian Revolution. In a second part I analyze his notion of «myth» as a challenge to analytical rationality, and as a rebirth of religiosity in the Modernity. In a third section, I propose the «somnambulist intellectual» as a synthesis of his youth’s thought: the search for a «broaded reason».
