Between Testimony and Reflection: Postdocumentary in Post-Conflict Colombia
Abstract
This article analyzes the Colombian documentary Amor rebelde (Alejandro Bernal Rueda, 2021) as a representative example of the postdocumentary turn in Latin America. The film offers an alternative perspective on the Colombian armed conflict through the intimate experience of two former guerrilla members undergoing reintegration. Using a mixed methodology and drawing on the theoretical models of Nichols, Ruffinelli, and Català Domènech, the study explores the film’s reflexive, emotional, and symbolic dimensions, positioning it within a contemporary corpus that redefines the boundaries of memory documentary cinema.
