Trayectoria evolutiva del tratamiento social para mujeres jóvenes “xiǎojiě” en China y su interacción con el contexto mediático: un análisis diacrónico (1912–2024)
Abstract
This article focuses on the semantic evolution of the female social address term “xiǎojiě” (小姐) in China between 1912 and 2024, as well as its dissemination and reconstruction in different media contexts. Based on the Discourse-Historical Approach, the study builds a self-compiled diachronic corpus that integrates various types of texts from diverse media environments. Using AntConc, co-occurring words and their frequency were analyzed to examine the address structures and discursive strategies. The findings reveal significant changes in usage domains and semantic content, reflecting the interaction between social structure, media technology, and gender ideology, and highlighting the role of the media in regulating female forms of address and reconstructing their meanings.
