Rango y contienda. La cuestión del poder entre los celtas
Abstract
Literary sources about Celtic Peoples remain essential in order to understand certain theoretical conceptualisations yet. However, there is hardly any need to remind that Greeks and Romans, who were to become Celts' masters, described in their own literature only the final phase of that culture, roughly from the second century BC to the first century A.D. Hence, the actual information we have on Celtic politics, military power, assemblies, commanding structure, or the role of aristocracies, the elders or the common people can only be explained as the reaction, curiosity or even surprise of Classical writers' with respect to their counterparts. What strikes the most is that from the ethnocentric view of "the others", those writers tried to show an overall picture, particularly underlying features from several relevant groups whose military position made them lead vast regions (of the Roman Empire) from the Athlantic to the river Rhine.Downloads
