Abstract

In this work we reflect on a new tendency of the last years of employing movie posters of classic and contemporary films as a form of political criticism. Through digital tools such as Photoshop, the spectators/users are reimagining and resignifying the traditional movie poster format as a new form of graphic humor that ingeniously portrays the political news of a country. In this paper we focus on the case of Spain, where it is possible to observe several examples of this type of digitally manipulated movie posters through which the users -and not only the cartoonists and traditional media- are portraying and denouncing the current Spanish political situation through humour.
