Abstract

Information is a public good, a basic right of every man and woman, like other rights as health, education, water and freedom of expression. The media play an important role in ensuring this right. The benefits that citizens and the media can get with this type of studies on the quality of news reporting are: a) increased confidence and credibility, respectively; b) better access to sources of information: not all report the same thing in the same way; c) improve the quality of life information “quality” contributes to social development and democracy.
