Impact of the economic context on the attitude towards the immigrant. Differences between European countries

Abstract
The main objective is to analyse the changes in attitudes towards immigrants (ATI), in different economic contexts, while studying the effects that determine these changes. For this purpose, we use data from the European Social Survey database for two periods (2002 and 2014), taking as a reference point the economic and labor drivers that make up the ATI, we perform an econometric analysis using the Kitagawa-Oaxaca-Blinder technique. Since we consider 5 different ATIs, we repeat the estimations 5 times. The results vary according to the modelled ATI. Among the main results, we highlight that the context is an even more relevant determinant than the native characteristics, although it depends on the spatial correlation.
