El patrimonio paleontológico español

Abstract

The inclusion of the paleontological heritage in dic Spanish Heritage Law of 1985 has changed drastically the scenario in which the paleontological research was evoiving. In this legal framework it is of upmost importance to evaluate the heritage of paleontological sites as a preliminary and decisive step to administrate them correctly aíid efficiently so that both, researchers and society, will be satisfied. Three criteria are proposed; --scientific ones related to the importance as a source of fossil record. --socíocultural criteria that have to do with didactic, cultural or turistical aspects, and --socíoeconomical criteria that are related with their immediate preservation.
