Estado actual de los conocimientos paleontológicos y estratigráficos de los yacimientos aragonienses de Somosaguas (Pozuelo de Alarcón, Madrid)

Abstract

In this paper we describe the geological and paleontological framework of Somosaguas sites from Middle Miocene of Madrid Basin, updating the data of the last six years of work in this site. These updated data allow us to propose a new paleoenvironmental interpretation, which exhibits differences in the Aragonian climatic relative humidity or aridity conditions in regards with the previously published. Previous data about Somosaguas sites are analysed thoroughly and the litostratigraphic and paleontological information from Middle Aragonian of Madrid Basin are revised in detail, Madrid city area in particular, with integration of information from Somosaguas sites in previous stratigraphic and paleontological studies. Our aim is to obtain a paleoenvironmental framework for the sites of this period. The different paleoenvironmental interpretations in Madrid Basin are discused, and in relation with the Calatayud-Daroca Basin.
