Abstract
A summary of the paleontology study of Rodentia is made in thirteen localities in stratigraphic succession in the sedimentary sequence of Barranco de Morteral (Rio Magro basin). The age of these deposits is Lower and Middle Aragonian. Twenty eight species of fossil Rodentia have been determined. Remains of the genus Megacricetodon are the major component found in these localities, although another ones belonging to Cricetidae, Gliridae, Sciuridae and Eomyidae families are also present. A first attempt to a local zonation has been established, using different evolutionary stages of the genus Megacricetodon and the associated fossil rodent fauna. This zonation is compared with that established in Calatayud-Daroca area (DAAMS & FREUDENTHAL, 1988a and DAAMS et al., 1999).Downloads
