Abstract
We review the palaeontological sites with macro- and micromammals, which has been, dated by paleomagnetic or radiometric data around the Plio-Pleistocene boundary in Europe, Caucaso and Levant. At present, in the studied area, there is no site rich in mammal fauna dated between 1.75 and 1.97 (Olduvai subchron). French and Italian sites of that age only contains macromammals. In the Guadix-Baza basin (SE Spain) the sites related to Olduvai subchron only have between three and four taxa of micromammals defined on the specific level. We also discuss the association of Allophaiomys pliocaenicus with Olduvai subchron (Agustí et al. 1997).Downloads
