Revisión de la Formación Calizas de Aras de Alpuente en la Cordillera Ibérica suroccidental.
Abstract
A detailed stratigraphic study of the Aras de Alpuente Formation (Vilas eta!, 1982) allows both a revision of the unit from a purely Lithostratigraphical point of view and the realization of a sequential analisys, based in an accurate correlation between different outcrops. Three depositional sequences and eleven parasequences have been identified; based on them the lower and upper boundaries in the type area are more precisely defined. The lower boundary is an important discontinuity which is coincident with a 3rd order cycle boundary; on the other hand, the upper boundary is characterized by the lithologieal change from limestones to dolostones, which is strongly diacrhonous. It is proposed the regional validity of the Losilla Member and it is also detined the Losa del Obispo Member for the upper portion of Ihe Formation located aboye tlie Chera Bed.
