Abstract

A biozonal scheme is established based 011 planktonic foraminifera for the materials of the Middle Albian-Middle Turonian of the Penibetic and its correlation with the chronostratigraphic scale. From the oldest to the most modem the following biozones can be distinguished: Ticinella primuta h., Biticinefla breggiensis b., Rota/ipora (Pseudothaimanninetta) ticinensis b., Planomatina praebuxtorfi b., Pta. nomalina buxtorfi b., Rotatipora (Thatmanninetta) gandol¡u b., Rotati Departamento de Geología. Facultad de Ciencias. Universidad de Málaga. * 739 b., Rotalipora (Thaimannipara (Thahnanninella) giobotruncanoides nelia) reicheli b., Rotalipora (Rotalipora) cushmani b., and He/vetoglobotruncana he/vetica b. It is possible that between the last two biozones there may exist an interval not yet recognised.
