Abstract

Regional metamorphism in metasediments and orthogneisses of a deep structural level in the Spanish Central System is described here. Two metamorphic events (M1 y M2) are found again. Almandine-rich garnet, staurolite and sillimanite related to M1 are conserved as relicts and point to a former Barrowian-like metamorphism. 1k is caracterized by the breakdown of staurolite and garnet and widespreading of * Departamento de Petrología. Peak temperatures during M2 have been determined with the garnet-cordierite and garnet-biotite geothermomethers. These data along, with topological reasons point to temperatures in the range 780 W 50~ C for a PL 5 Kb. Neverthless no granulites have been found here. 1.
