Entre la decadencia y el cuidado: prácticas espaciales en vecindarios de clase baja de Tonalá, México

Resumen
Este artículo analiza la interrelación entre los habitantes y sus entornos de residencia en el vecindario de Zalatitán, dentro del Área Metropolitana de Guadalajara, México. Se utiliza el concepto de prácticas espaciales para analizar cómo esas interrelaciones acarrean diversas situaciones de mantenimiento de los espacios. El artículo se basa en trabajo de campo etnográfico y en entrevistas en profundidad. Los resultados muestran que buena parte de las prácticas espaciales profundizan la degradación del vecindario, con lo que se confirman diversas apreciaciones de la literatura que analiza la relación de poblaciones de clase baja con sus vecindarios. Sin embargo, también se descubren importantes esfuerzos por mantener espacios de vida dignos, donde disfrutar de mejores condiciones de vida. Dados estos resultados, se concluye que una característica de estos entornos es la precariedad, sostenida en la tensión entre las prácticas del cuidado y los procesos de desatención y obsolescencia.
